We know you’d like to! In case you were stuck at home and missed out on this year’s Adult Entertainment Expo we thought we’d bring you an interesting tidbit from the porn convention.

According to YNot.com one of the groups at this year’s show was Clitoraid. This year their slogan was “Adopt a Clitoris” which was cleverly emblazoned on T-shirts and balloons. I’m so in favor of the idea that I would’ve paid the $75 admission price for the T-shirt alone. In fact, I’d be quite happy if someone would like to adopt my clitoris.

But before we get too carried away on that sidebar, the mission of Clitoraid is to stop female genitalia mutilation. If you haven’t heard of this cultural practice, many countries cut off a woman’s clitoris to ensure she doesn’t stray from her husband. It is considered “normal” and women who do not have it done are considered social outcasts and are often left unmarried. If someone cut off my clitoris, I’d do a lot more than just stray.

The strategy to have a booth at AVN 2007 seemingly paid off for Clitoraid as their donation box was overflowing with dollar bills and even larger bills. With the proper funding Clitoraid is hoping to have hospitals with specially-trained doctors who are able to restore some sensation to women’s clitorises. Clitoraid is also hoping to offer these surgeries free of charge to women willing to undergo the procedures.

While I’m fully in favor of their mission and believe in women’s pleasure, you may want to do some more research before turning over your hard-earned bucks to Clitoraid. According to YNot.com’s article the representatives for Clitoraid at AEE said they may or may not have the land to build the hospital. And that land hasn’t been cleared yet nor has the building been constructed. If you want, check ‘em out and see what you think.
