The Vagina Monologues Causes a Hoohaa in Florida

Stage play the Vagina Monologues had to be renamed the Hoohaa Monologues at Florida’s Atlantic Theatre because of a complaint about the title.
A woman complained she was “offended” by the title after it prompted her niece to ask her what a vagina was. (Poor woman needs to see the play more than anyone!)
Since the aunt is too uptight to answer the question, I’ll answer it for you, sweetie. A vagina is the clinical term for a body part that all women—including your frigid aunt have. And one that no one should be ashamed of. *grin*
The name was changed following the complaint, but days later it was changed back after the shows director said that they only had rights to put on the play based the understanding that its contents—including title—not be censored.
The Vagina Monologues – formerly known as –The Hoohaa Monologues – and currently known again as The Vagina Monologues, is being put on by a group of Florida law school students who plan on donating all the proceeds to charity.
The play was originally written by Eve Ensler in 1996 and has been popular worldwide ever since, even having included an impressive line up of celebrity participants like Kate Winslet, Sharon Osborne and Jerry Hall.
