According to a recent article on Yahoo!, the New South Wales state Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), has released a series of television ads mocking fast male drivers.

In the ads, women watch as men speed by them after which the women turn to each FlagUndies.jpgother, wiggle their pinky fingers and giggle to each other. The ads imply that men who speed do so to make up for their small penises.

What’s all the fuss about? Why are the ads being released?

According to the RTA, speeding plays a role in about 40 percent of road deaths in New South Wales. In terms of actual numbers, that translates into over 220 deaths every year occuring because of (at least in part) speeding.

4272.jpgThe campaign is called ”Speeding: No one thinks big of you” and is geared towards young men between the ages of 17 and 25. The ads aired for the first time over the weekend.

“All the ads in the world showing the serious injury and death that speeding can cause are becoming less effective,” the RTA said on its website.

The multimedia campaign is airing on television, being shown in movie theatres, and on posters at bus stops. There’s even an Internet ad that offers speed demons an “xtra xtra small” condom!

The new campaign “could very well be the thread that unravels the mindset that speeding is cool.”

RTA spokesman John Whelan knows the ads push the envelope but he told the local media: “We will do what we feel we have to to get the message through.”
